After a bitter divorce, the loss of her stable job and mounting bills push Saira into desperation. At a corporate gala, she overhears two powerful partners discussing an illegal way to remove a third. She follows the thread, sells the information and discovers that informant work, occasional blackmail and the power of hidden knowledge can quickly transform a bank account and a powerless life.

A near-capture by a detective forces Saira to stop. She finds a steady job and begins to feel safe, but the quiet becomes unbearable. When her employer hands her a treasure of sensitive information, the old adrenaline returns. Saira is back in the shadows, asking whether the end justifies the means or whether the means were always the real motivation.

Glamorous yet ugly realism moves between cramped middle-class living and the red-and-gold world of the powerful. The story explores domestic violence, patriarchy, the addiction of control and the darker self that can emerge from prolonged powerlessness.
