And I Wait
ANTHOLOGY EPISODE · SPECULATIVE DRAMA

A speculative drama and the first episode of the anthology Twisted Tales. An elderly woman languishes in prison, repenting a gruesome crime committed under duress, but her wait for forgiveness seems never-ending.
For thirty years, Gauri has survived in an isolated prison with only a tiny high window and a sliver of sky for company. She was forced by family honour, patriarchy and the threat of a gun to bury her newborn daughter alive. Unknown to her, the child survived: Suraj rescued the infant and raised her as Ganga in a faraway village.
Gauri dies before redemption arrives, but her soul cannot leave. When the middle-aged Ganga arrives to claim the body, she condemns the mother she believes stole her life. Gauri listens helplessly from beyond death, realizing that remorse alone cannot heal a wound carried across generations. Until truth replaces hatred and forgiveness frees them both, her journey remains unfinished.
Cinematic realism meets magical realism in a bleak, grey world of rural Rajasthan, female infanticide and inherited trauma. The story asks whether a mother needs repentance to cross realms and whether even death can grant forgiveness.
